It is well documented that there are over 100 cannabinoids present in the cannabis plant. THC H is one of the new cannabinoids to be isolated and explored, so what is the THC H cannabinoid (also commonly identified as THCH) and what are its special features?
With the legalization of recreational cannabis in some countries and states, and the ongoing decriminalization and rescheduling of the plant in others, there has been significantly more scientific research into the area of marjuana, leading to some exciting discoveries.
TCH H (the cannabinoid is also referred to as THCH) is the most recent cannabinoid to be released into the wild, and holy smokes is it interesting! But, what sets this compound apart from regular THC, or CBD or any of the other cannabinoids identified in the cannabis plant?
What is THCH?
THCH, is a fully hemp-derived cannabinoid, which makes it legal federally in the USA, and also in 32 of the 50 states. It offers very similar effects to those most of us are used to when smoking or ingesting regular Delta-9 THC -
- Feelings of euphoria
- Pain relief
- Mental and physical relaxation
- Increased appetite
- Lowered inflammation
While there hasn't been enough time for any long-term, peer-reviewed, studies to be conducted - all signs point towards THCH becoming one of the biggest players in the world of isolated cannabinoids.
What makes THC H Different?
Research shows that it could be up 10 times stronger than Delta 9 THC, and the second most psychoactive cannabinoid found so far, after THC-P. That extra kick adds to the sense of joy and euphoria that you would usually expect from Delta 9, and the body high is on a whole other level.
The cerebral and physical effects also last a long time. A really long time. Up to twice what you might expect from regular THC. Now, since different cannabinoids work with different receptors, there should be a range of medicinal uses for THCH, which has medical cannabis researchers intrigued.
However, THCH is so new that there hasn’t been time to conduct significant medical research on the THCH cannabinoid yet in order to ascertain, or affirm its medicinal value.
Looking through user reports, there is anecdotal evidence pointing towards people finding THC-H great for insomnia, inflammation, chronic pain, and appetite issues, but these reports should be taken with a grain of salt until there is a raft of supporting medical research.
Will I fail a drug test after consuming THC H?
Yes. Despite the fact that THCH is derived from hemp, it is extremely potent. Most drug tests cannot distinguish between the different cannabinoids. All forms of THC are metabolized by an enzyme called THC-COOH, and this is what most drug tests actually test for.
Is it true THC H is legal at a federal level in the USA?
Well, it's not technically 100% federally legal. It all comes down to federal classifications, and where the cannabinoid is derived from. Since THC H is found in hemp, it can be isolated and extracted, and then legally sold to the public and therefore falls under the jurisdiction of the H.R.2 - Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018.
This piece of legislation states that any cannabis containing less than 0.3% Delta 9-THC is legally classified as hemp, and since THC-H is found in plants with less than 0.3% Delta 9 you are good to go!
That's not to say that there are zero cannabis strains that contain more than 0.3% Delta 9 and THC-H, and any extract produced from these plants would still be federally illegal. A bit of a murky area, but there are a few companies that are already selling THC H vape cartridges legally.
