White Noise is a predominantly indica strain (80% indica, 20% sativa) that redefines an Amsterdam coffee shop classic with the infusion of high-grade California genetics. Known for its robust resistance and resin-rich profile, this strain is perfect for both experienced and new growers. White Noise offers a terpene blend that marries traditional Amsterdam flavors with Cookies-inspired sweetness. It thrives in various cultivation environments, producing dense, frosty buds that are as potent as they are flavorful.
Lineage
White Noise is a hybrid of two celebrated strains. Its lineage includes White Widow, a 1990s favorite known for its fruity aroma, robust structure, and balanced effects. Complementing this is Thin Mint GSC, a standout phenotype that enhances potency and terpene complexity, resulting in a strain that combines the best of both worlds.
Aromas, Flavour and Effect
Aromas and Flavour:
White Noise delivers a nuanced sensory experience. The aroma features a subtle fruity sweetness that evolves into a rich, complex flavor profile. Notes of citrusy sweetness, vanilla, pine, and berries harmonize with grounded hints of peppermint, earth, and chestnut. This refined combination appeals to both Cookies enthusiasts and White Widow admirers.
Recreational:
This strain offers a well-balanced effect, combining deep physical relaxation with mental clarity. It creates a blissful state that encourages creativity and sociability, making it ideal for daytime activities or social interactions.
Medical:
White Noise is highly regarded by medical cannabis users for its ability to deliver relaxation and functional clarity. Its balanced effects make it suitable for managing stress, promoting focus, and achieving all-day relief without overwhelming sedation.
Cultivation
Indoors:
White Noise is a compact plant, rarely exceeding 100 cm in height, making it ideal for growers with limited space. It exhibits a classic indica growth pattern, with broad fan leaves and robust branching that supports ample bud production. To optimize yield, vegetate until the plant reaches 40–45 cm and use topping techniques to encourage lateral growth. This strain performs exceptionally well in SOG and SCROG setups.
Indoor Yield: 450 g per m²
Outdoors:
Outdoor growers will appreciate White Noise’s resilience, particularly in northern regions where it resists molds like Botrytis and thrives in changing weather conditions. In Mediterranean climates, the plant can grow up to 2 meters tall, producing dense flower clusters with impressive productivity.
Outdoor Yield: 700 g per plant
Grow Report
Paradise Seeds was looking to combine the best of old and new generation strains in this 80% indica plant. The name White Noise was a tribute to the heritage element in the genetic mix – Original White Widow IBL – with the sweet Californian magic of Cookies bringing the noise! So how did it perform in the grow room?
Germination and Vegetative Stage
Two White Noise feminized seeds germinated after 2 days, no problems and were grown with 2 other plants. The seedlings quickly developed with broad serrated edge leaves, their growth pattern displaying an indica bushiness with multiple side branches developing. By the end of the veg period plants were a compact but extremely robust 28 and 30 cm tall.
Flowering Stage
Both plants continued to bush out in flowering. Their dense outer layer of dark green fan leaves was like some kind of green forcefield, masking the industrious bud production on the lattice of side branches radiating around the main stem beneath.
Indica shaped buds rapidly formed on the many branches, swelling significantly, seemingly every couple of days. Tufty, with thick pistil hairs, they expanded like some freaky luminescent sea anemone. At around week 5, some of the fan leaves began to turn a shade of purple and as the weeks progressed, this purple coloring accelerated as the Cali influence shone through.
From around week six, the buds began to transform into an amazing technicolor display of whites, purples, greens and greys. The dial up in color was accompanied by a surge of an intense sweet and fruity sharp scent in the grow room. As harvest approached, until those multicolored buds literally sparkled under the grow lights with their intense trichome coating.
By now swollen top buds sat on top of a corkscrew of lower buds running down branches, so significant in girth that they practically joined together like one big bud. Following the advice of the Paradise breeding team the plants were left for the full duration, even though they looked ready a week and a half before, buds putting on noticeable extra bulk for a spectacular yield. Final White Noise heights were 89 cm and 85cm.
Harvest Yield
101 and 103 grams.
Smell and Smoke Report
With their mix of grey, white, and light green, shot through with purple streaks and flambé orange pistils, dried buds were dense and extremely resinous to the touch. The aroma had that accentuated sweetness, but with a sharpness to it that was somewhere between mint and citrus.
For the smoke test, 0.5 grams was rolled up in a joint. The first couple of puffs brought a slightly earthy taste, but this quickly gave way to a richness characterized by a sweet and minty freshness on the tongue. Further puffs brought forward subtle waves of flavor; citrus, notes of nutty vanilla and musk.
The effect was surprising, seeing as White Noise is a mostly indica strain. Body and tongue began to tingle as a happy sense of euphoric uplift kicked in. This happy-go-lucky feeling, was mostly in the head but with a pleasant wash of body relaxation, lasted for 90 minutes or so before gently fading away.
The verdict
In White Noise, the reliability of White Widow’s grow qualities gets a significant Cookies boost. The Californication of the Widow brings a sparkling extra dimension to the palate and more glamor to the overall presentation. White Noise showed itself to be an excellent day time experience which marries the finest qualities of two distinct generations.
