El Dorado OG is a full-bodied indica that stands out for its exceptional resin production and strong, complex aroma. This strain offers a balanced experience, providing physical relaxation and mental clarity, making it ideal for both daytime and nighttime use. With its high resin output, robust genetics, and versatile growing characteristics, El Dorado OG is a premium choice for indica enthusiasts seeking reliable performance and therapeutic potential.
Lineage
El Dorado OG is the product of two iconic cannabis strains. The first is OG Kush, a legendary indica from the 1990s known for its potent fuel, spice, and skunk terpene profile. The second is Thin Mint GSC, renowned for its unique aroma and potency. Together, these genetics create a strain with impeccable pedigree, blending the best traits of its celebrated parents.
Aromas, Flavour and Effect
Aromas and Flavour:
El Dorado OG delivers a penetrating and complex aroma with dominant notes of earth, wood, and pine, accompanied by hints of sweet lemon and fuel. Once dried, the buds reveal a nuanced flavor profile, where the sweetness is balanced by a faint, pleasant bitterness, reflecting the richness of its lineage.
Recreational:
This strain provides deep relaxation for both body and mind, making it ideal for easing stress during the day or unwinding in the evening. The effects are calming yet clear-headed, delivering a sense of focus and tranquility that enhances any activity or helps users transition into restful downtime.
Medical:
El Dorado OG’s pain-relieving properties and versatile effects make it a strong choice for medical users. Its ability to provide daytime clarity and nighttime relaxation ensures effective relief for those managing chronic pain, stress, or anxiety.
Cultivation
Indoors:
El Dorado OG’s compact and bushy growth pattern makes it well-suited for indoor cultivation, particularly in spaces with height limitations. The plant exhibits uniform growth, with a prominent main stem and a lower canopy of lateral branches. Dense flower clusters and tightly packed calyxes form early, with purple sugar leaves adding visual appeal.
Indoor Yield: 500 g per m²
Outdoors:
This strain thrives in warm, sunny climates but is also resilient enough to perform well in temperate northern regions. Outdoor growers will appreciate the plant’s ability to produce resin-rich buds with vibrant orange pistils, delivering substantial yields even under less-than-ideal conditions.
Outdoor Yield: 750 g per plant
Grow Report
El Dorado OG was released in the spring of 2020. Key features of this indica dominant strain include its intense bouquet and extreme resin production which quickly earned this plant the nickname of ‘The Trichome Bomb.’ The genetics are a blend of classic Kush and Thin Mint GSC.
Germination and Vegetative Stage
Two seeds were germinated and planted in a soil mix, breaking the surface within 3 days. The early veg stage was characterized by rapid growth and great uniformity. The Kush genetics produced stocky and bushy plants and the solid branch structure was covered in medium wide dark green leaves. At the end of the veg stage (4 weeks), the heights of the two plants were 32cm and 34cm.
Flowering Stage
Within 4 weeks of switching to flowering, the El Dorado OG plants stretched significantly, basically doubling in height; the main stem shooting up through the middle, surrounded by a plateau of numerous lateral branches below.
This trend continued and, after four weeks in flowering, the evenly distributed lateral branches were showing a multitude of tight packed calyxes upon which dense flower clusters. There was already an indication of the over productive nature of this plant, in relation to its oozing resin production. As the plants approached harvest the development of the tops was most impressive, those excessive resin glands pumping so frosty they looked like a snow scene with intensely orange pistils.
These changes were accompanied by a smell so strong that it could be described as penetrating. The highly odorous scent was a terpene swirl of wood, heavy earth and pine needles with a hint of sweet lemon – the plants definitely showing their Kush lineage.
Harvested after nine weeks of flowering, the plants were 74cm and 85cm in height.
The combined yield of these two plants was an impressive 193 grams.
Smell and Smoke Report
Dried and cured, the smell had retained its incredibly potent scent, with the earth-pine-lemon character now infused with a note of fuel. To test El Dorado OG, half a gram was mixed with a pinch of tobacco and rolled into a joint. The initial hit confirmed that combination of flavors with a spicy taste of concentrated pine and lemon. A faint bitterness, not unpleasant, added an extra dimension to the complex taste.
El Dorado OG has its own character – intensely aromatic and intensely resinous An excellent addition to the Paradise Seeds stable, this is an indica that sits well in this trio of new strains.
