Widow’s Makeover… White Noise is a mostly indica strain (80% indica/20% sativa) which upgrades an Amsterdam coffee shop classic for the 21st century with the addition of high grade Cali genetics.

Experienced growers who’ve danced with the White Widow before will be reminded of nostalgic good times while new generation growers will discover why this strain has burned its way to legendary status!

Terpene fans will love the mix of cherished old school Amsterdam flavors, enhanced with Cookies sweetness. Indica growers, especially those cultivating outdoors will also appreciate the breeding-in of superb resistance qualities. This plant also comes with the sticky finger oiliness which is a hallmark of so many Paradise strains.

  • White Noise is a connoisseur’s clash of the generations! On the one hand there is the grand old lady, White Widow, a 1990s cannabis matriarch with South American sativa and South Indian indica lineage.

Robust, sturdy, fruity, flavorful, uplifting, relaxing – just a few of the positive adjectives associated with this plant.

For the other parent the Paradise Seeds breeding team selected a special Space Cookies phenotype which stood out from the crowd, adding potency and more sophistication to the terpene profile.

  • Under the nose it’s the subtle sweety fruitiness which comes through. The flavor profile is more complex however, with the Cookies profile seeping into a rich mix of limonene old school flavoring.

Hints of citrusy sweetness, vanilla, pine and berries are juxtaposed against more grounded notes of peppermint, earth and chestnut.

The taste will be an unexpected and pleasant surprise for Cookie heads and White Widow admirers alike, who will appreciate the refined extra taste dimension.

  • Difficulty Level: Medium

Indoors: This is a superb choice for growers who have height restrictions as this plant will rarely exceed 100 cm in height. It’s growth follows a classic indica pattern, with broad fan leaves and an enthusiasm for expanding horizontally with copious side branches supporting ample bud production.

To maximize harvest potential it is recommended to veg this plant until it reaches a height of 40-45 cm and topping the plant to encourage its natural tendency to spread the architecture horizontally. For this reason White Noise is an excellent option for those growers cultivating with SOG and SCROG techniques.

It is also advised to allow this plant to fulfill the recommended flowering time for best results.

Outdoors: Northern region growers battling with changeable weather and especially the onset of Autumn rains will approach harvest time with a sense of confidence with this plant in the ground. Its heritage – bomb proof White Widow and Cookies with its slightly smaller buds – ensures a rich vein of resistance in this plant, especially against common molds such as Botrytis. In a Mediterranean type climate, expect this plant to go wild, in a similar fashion to the classic White Widow.

Without restraining, heights of two meters are possible and thick flower growth will display the true potential of its productive nature.

  • With the parentage of this plant growers should not expect typical big indica buds.

However, what is lacking in size, is more than made up for in the quality of the flowers produced. Growers will notice the thickness and weight of the dense weed buds, although they may be distracted by the intensity of the frosty velvety coating which will fill growers’ eyes (and heart!) with joy.

    Indoor Yield: 450g
    Outdoor Yield: 700g

  • Recreational: This is a supremely well balanced strain. It brings a contented state of bliss – relaxing for body and mind but also a lucid sense of purpose.

Despite its potency, White Noise will be hit with anyone who enjoys getting creative, sociable or just passing a pleasant day enjoying whatever comes their way.

Medical: Of interest to medical cannabis consumers will be the all-day experience of this strain which brings a fine balance of welcome relaxation and functional clarity

  • White Noise grows outside between 50º n.L. and 50º s.L.. It finishes in early October outdoors (n.L.), while indoor finish time is 8 - 9 weeks. Estimated yield is 450g per m² indoors / 700g per plant outdoors.

Paradise Seeds was looking to combine the best of old and new generation strains in this 80% indica plant. The name White Noise was a  tribute to the heritage element in the genetic mix – Original White Widow IBL – with the sweet Californian magic of Cookies bringing the noise! So how did it perform in the grow room?

Germination and Vegetative Stage

Two White Noise feminized seeds germinated after 2 days, no problems and were grown with 2 other plants.  The seedlings quickly developed with broad serrated edge leaves, their growth pattern displaying an indica bushiness with multiple side branches developing. By the end of the veg period plants were a compact but extremely robust 28 and 30 cm tall.

Flowering Stage

Both plants continued to bush out in flowering. Their dense outer layer of dark green fan leaves was like some kind of green forcefield, masking the industrious bud production on the lattice of side branches radiating around the main stem beneath.

Indica shaped buds rapidly formed on the many branches, swelling significantly, seemingly every couple of days. Tufty, with thick pistil hairs, they expanded like some freaky luminescent sea anemone. At around week 5, some of the fan leaves began to turn a shade of purple and as the weeks progressed, this purple coloring accelerated as the Cali influence shone through.

From around week six, the buds began to transform into an amazing technicolor display of whites, purples, greens and greys. The dial up in color was accompanied by a surge of an intense sweet and fruity sharp scent in the grow room. As harvest approached, until those multicolored buds literally sparkled under the grow lights with their intense trichome coating.

By now swollen top buds sat on top of a corkscrew of lower buds running down branches, so significant in girth that they practically joined together like one big bud.  Following the advice of the Paradise breeding team the plants were left for the full duration, even though they looked ready a week and a half before, buds putting on noticeable extra bulk for a spectacular yield. Final White Noise heights were 89 cm and 85cm.

Harvest Yield

101 and 103 grams.

Smell and Smoke Report

With their mix of grey, white, and light green, shot through with purple streaks and flambé orange pistils, dried buds were dense and extremely resinous to the touch. The aroma had that accentuated sweetness, but with a sharpness to it that was somewhere between mint and citrus.

For the smoke test, 0.5 grams was rolled up in a joint. The first couple of puffs brought a slightly earthy taste, but this quickly gave way to a richness characterized by a sweet and minty freshness on the tongue. Further puffs brought forward subtle waves of flavor; citrus, notes of nutty vanilla and musk.

The effect was surprising, seeing as White Noise is a mostly indica strain. Body and tongue began to tingle as a happy sense of euphoric uplift kicked in. This happy-go-lucky feeling, was mostly in the head but with a pleasant wash of body relaxation, lasted for 90 minutes or so before gently fading away.

The verdict

In White Noise, the reliability of White Widow’s grow qualities gets a significant Cookies boost. The Californication of the Widow brings a sparkling extra dimension to the palate and more glamor to the overall presentation. White Noise showed itself to be an excellent day time experience which marries the finest qualities of two distinct generations.
